Our very own EVP of finance for Travel Nurses, Inc., Michelle Davis, won CFO of the Year with the Memphis Business Journal in the private company (large) category. We are so blessed to have her a part of our amazing team. She leads with excellence and has been essential to our recent financial stewardship.
“Michelle has been vital to the company’s successful growth and financial health. Under her leadership, the company has successfully managed a 200% growth in revenue and net profit from 2019 to June 2022. During the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic staffing needs, Michelle managed the ever-growing need for available financial credit. Staffing companies depend on vendor management systems for timely payments. This often can result in a 30-120 day waiting period for payments following staffing placements. In a company that is committed to paying its healthcare professionals weekly, this requires accurate financial projections, creative allocations, and consistent communications.
While the financial success is amazing, the best part of Michelle Davis is her heart for serving other people. Michelle consistently brings ideas to the executive team for blessing our employees and the community around. Her ability to manage the financials effectively for Travel Nurses, Inc. has allowed the company to donate to establish scholarships at the University of Memphis and provide care at the Church Health Center.”
Biggest challenge at the moment? “Expanding our business nationwide. We are always looking to hire more nurses and healthcare technicians who want to see more parts of the country. We value our clients in the local market but want to expand to new areas.”
What will change in the next year? “Hopefully, more and more growth. Our company provides a way for healthcare professionals to take more control of where and when they work. They have the ability to move to the areas where the pay is more desirable and see other parts of the country that they hadn’t before.”
How do you measure success? “I measure success in how our company is performing financially and strategically. Growth is great as long as it is managed growth that can be sustained in a reasonable manner. I also measure success in how our company works together as a team to maintain and grow our number of quality professionals in both the health care and corporate settings.”
Biggest business strength? “My ability to focus on the big picture. It is very easy, especially in accounting, to get focused on the minute details.”
