November is the month to give back and volunteer, and it’s an important time for reflection and action. At Travel Nurses, Inc., we understand the profound impact of giving back to our community. We believe in nurturing a culture of engagement and social responsibility through our corporate giveback program.
Our company prioritizes creating opportunities for employees to engage with their communities in a meaningful way. With our Volunteer Time Off (VTO) policy, team members are empowered to contribute to causes they are passionate about without compromising their professional responsibilities. This policy allows employees to take half a day off each month or a full day off every two months to volunteer at local organizations.
The flexibility of our VTO policy ensures that employees can support various community needs. Whether it’s helping at a local shelter, volunteering a food drive, or using their professional skills to assist nonprofit organizations, our employees are able to choose how they want to give back.
One of our recruiters, Marissa Morgan, is a certified medical interpreter. She used her VTO to volunteer at Church Health in Memphis, providing much-needed language assistance to patients. This kind of involvement not only benefits the community but also allows our employees to grow personally and professionally.
Our VTO program fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among our team members. When employees volunteer together, they build stronger bonds and develop a deeper understanding of each other’s values and strengths. This, in turn, enhances workplace morale and collaboration.
By supporting our employees’ volunteer efforts, we reinforce our commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. We believe that empowering our workforce to take part in these meaningful activities enriches their lives and makes a tangible difference in the communities we serve.
Our employees have also supported Room in the Inn, an organization that provides shelter and safety for people experiencing homelessness. By staying overnight at the shelter, our team members ensure that individuals have their immediate needs met and are kept safe throughout the evening. This hands-on involvement underscores our commitment to addressing pressing community issues.
These examples illustrate our dedication to fostering strong community connections through our corporate giveback programs. We believe that our employees’ active participation in these local organizations not only benefits the community but also enriches their own lives, reinforcing our commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
Our company’s involvement with Pack-A-Snack and Night to Shine exemplifies our dedication to helping others. We champion A Night to Shine, a global event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation that celebrates individuals with special needs. Our employees volunteer at these events, ensuring that every guest has a memorable and joyous experience. Our employees volunteer in various capacities from being a buddy to a guest, cheering on the cars as they drive in, or being a member of the paparazzi on the red carpet. There is something for everyone to do.
Pack-a-Snack is another initiative close to our hearts. This program aims to address food insecurity among schoolchildren by providing nutritious snacks to those in need. We completely shut down for half a day to pack snack and lunches for children. This was a meaningful cause for our employees. We packed 720 snacks for children last year and we’re hoping to pack 840 this year.
Our giveback initiatives extend to supporting larger, impactful causes that resonate on a broader scale. Each December, our employees choose to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and their marathon race. Our employees eagerly join our corporate team, train together and raise funds to support groundbreaking research and treatments for childhood illnesses.
We are also proud supporters of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Our corporate team members take part in their walks, raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research and patient support services. Through these efforts, we contribute to the fight against breast cancer, supporting both survivors and those currently battling the disease.
For many of our team members, supporting these nonprofits is a personal duty. Many people have friends or family members that have been affected by childhood cancer. We form a team and walk every year for our very own, Cristina Duncan, BSN, RN who courageously fought against breast cancer.
These initiatives reflect our holistic approach to corporate social responsibility. By engaging in diverse causes, we not only address various community needs but also inspire our employees to lead lives of empathy and service. Our corporate support for these major causes underscores our broader mission of making a meaningful impact both locally and globally.
