Submissions 101

Whether you’ve been traveling for a while or just getting started, it’s important to keep your options open. The healthcare travel industry ebbs and flows. Sometimes travelers are in high demand, like during the pandemic. Other times, hospitals might be looking to make budget cuts, and travel positions are often the first to go. But let’s be clear, hospitals always need travelers.

When this happens, there are a lot of travelers in the market, but not nearly as many jobs. With this in mind, it is important to keep your options open and submit to as many positions as possible.

At Travel Nurses, Inc., we know the more places you submit to, the more likely it is that you will hear back about an offer. Our experienced recruiters want you to have the best chances at getting your dream contract. They are willing to submit you to as many positions as you would like. You might also hear our recruiters suggest you submit to any position you would consider accepting. These are all suggestions coming from experience, and our recruiters want to help guide you to have a successful career in traveling.

On average, we have seen that healthcare professionals need to submit to at least nine different assignments to hear back on an offer. Some might require less submissions, and others might require more. However, this is the data we have seen amongst our travelers.

It might be tempting to see one perfect contract and just want to submit to that assignment. Oftentimes, other travelers also think it’s the perfect assignment. Then the job pool becomes saturated with 50+ applications while there’s only have one spot to fill. Hiring managers tend to get overwhelmed by this and it can draw out the offer process.

To avoid this cycle, we always suggest travelers submit to multiple positions. If you still only want to submit to one or two positions, that is perfectly fine, and our recruitment team will support you in that decision. It might take a little more time to receive an offer, but these decisions are in your hands. It’s your career- our recruiters are here to help make this an easier process for you and to help set expectations.

Some healthcare professionals like to use multiple agencies for their submissions. There is no issue with doing this either, but it’s important to keep track of which jobs you are submitting to through each agency. Some facilities will automatically decline your application if you submit to the same positions through more than one agency. So just be mindful of what you are submitting to.
