To some, Ohio may just be another midwestern state close to Canada. But the truth is, Ohio has so much to offer. As a traveler, did you know that Ohio typically pays above average for assignments with a lower cost of living than the national average? Talk about bang for your buck!
Check out all the cool things to do and consider taking an assignment to Ohio.
If you’re visiting Ohio, you must visit the major cities like Cleveland, Columbus (the capital) and Cincinnati. The easiest way to do this is to take a road trip on your days off. You can take Interstate 71 and either start in Cleveland near Lake Erie and travel south, or start in Cincinnati and travel north.
The good news is that it’s not a long drive. You can drive through all three cities in about three and a half hours, but we recommend you stop and stay in each city to take it all in.

No matter where you are in Ohio, there is an outdoor activity near you. You could visit the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Founded in 1873, this is one of the oldest zoos in the nation. USA Today named this the best zoo in the country.
If you enjoy the thrill of an amusement park, then we recommend taking a trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. This amusement park overlooks Lake Erie and has 68 rides. We recommend planning your trip ahead of time as they are not open every day.
Looking for a free option? Head over to Hocking Hills State Park in Hocking County. There are several hiking trails and other fun outdoor activities. You can also stay overnight and camp out on their camping grounds for a fee.

For the foodies, you’ll want to visit Cincinnati and Cleveland. Cincinnati might be best known for Cincinnati chili while Cleveland is known for its Polish Boy (not to be confused with a Po’ Boy in New Orleans).
A Polish Boy is a signature sandwich that resembles a hotdog. It’s a kielbasa sausage topped with fried, cole slaw and barbeque sauce on either a hoagie roll or hotdog bun.
The Cincinnati chili can be polarizing to some… it has a few added spices. The signature spices in Cincinnati chili are chili powder, cinnamon, allspice and cloves. You might want to save this and try it in the winter.

Ohio is often called the Birthplace of Aviation. The Wright brothers were from Ohio.
Contrary to popular belief, Ohio is home to the largest Amish population out of any other state.
Similar to the Loch Ness Monster, Lake Erie is rumored to have it’s own monster called Bessie. There have been several sightings of Bessie over the last century. If you go to Ohio and visit Lake Erie, be on the lookout for Bessie
