DAISY Award: James and Angela Harmon, RN

EXTRAORDINARY NURSES RECOGNIZED BY Travel Nurses, Inc.

June 8, 2023- Germantown, TN James and Angela Harmon, RN of Travel Nurses, Inc. were recently honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses as a travel team. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.

The nomination submitted by the Director of Nursing of Travel Nurses, Inc., Shane Garner, BSN, RN, read “Throughout their tenure with our company, Angela and James have consistently worked as a travel team. We have received nothing but glowing feedback about their exceptional work ethic, unwavering compassion, and dedication to providing excellent patient care from every individual within our organization. In fact, we have recently received commendations from their current manager at the facility, further highlighting their outstanding contributions:

‘We ABSOLUTELY love the Harmons and are deeply saddened that we have to see them go. For the last several years, they have become a vital part of our team. They are flexible with scheduling, never complain, and always place the patient at the heart of everything they do. They deserve the biggest KUDOS and from all of us here we will MISS you both terribly.’

James and Angela truly embody the essence of DAISY, and we are privileged to bestow this award upon them in recognition of their unwavering dedication to delivering extraordinary compassionate care. Thank you, James and Angela, for your exceptional contributions and for setting a remarkable example for others to follow.”

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little-known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.

Bonnie Barnes, FAAN, Doctor of Humane Letters (h.c) and Co-Founder of The DAISY Foundation, said, “When Patrick was critically ill, our family experienced first-hand the remarkable skill and care nurses provide patients day and night. Yet these unsung heroes are seldom recognized for the super-human work they do. The kind of work the nurses at [hospital] are called on to do daily epitomizes the purpose of The DAISY Award.”
